The Apple TV+ series Murderbot is set to feature a remarkable ensemble of actors for its second season. The science fiction program, which stars Alexander Skarsgård, has announced the addition of 25 new recurring and guest performers as filming is currently in progress. This impressive list includes several Emmy-winning and nominated individuals, familiar faces from other Apple productions, and renowned comedians.

Among the newly announced cast members, in alphabetical order, are Ella Jay Basco, Etienne Beydon, Nicholas Braun, Steve Buscemi, Bridget Everett, Jason George, Topher Grace, Brendan Hunt, Divian Ladwa, Jaedynn Latter, Marc Menchaca, Griffin Newman, Katy O’Brian, Britne Oldford, Patton Oswalt, Nia Otchere-Sarfo, Martha Plimpton, Kali Reis, Meredith Salenger, Michael Sheen, Maddy Strauss, Wanda Sykes, Tramell Tillman, Blair Underwood, and Damian Young. These actors will join the established cast, which includes series regulars Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones, and Tamara Podemski, alongside recurring talents like Clark Gregg, John Cho, DeWanda Wise, and Jack McBrayer.

Apple TV+ commissioned the second season of Murderbot in July 2025, shortly after its inaugural season received critical acclaim. The show, adapted from Martha Wells' literary works, centers on Skarsgård's portrayal of the titular character—a sentient security automaton grappling with its autonomous will while fulfilling its duties to safeguard humans. The character's true desire is to indulge in futuristic soap operas and understand its place within the vast universe. CBS Studios is behind the production, with Chris and Paul Weitz serving as both writers and directors, in addition to their roles as executive producers alongside Andrew Miano, Dan Balgoyen, and Britta Rowings from the Weitzes’ Depth of Field, David S. Goyer and Keith Levine representing Phantom Four, and Skarsgård himself. Martha Wells also contributes as a consulting producer.

The expansion of the cast for Murderbot's second season highlights the series' growing prominence and commitment to delivering high-quality storytelling. By incorporating such a diverse and talented group of actors, the show is poised to explore new narrative depths and further captivate its audience, reinforcing the idea that even in a futuristic world, the pursuit of identity and belonging remains a universally compelling theme.
