Sega Announces Crazy Taxi: World Tour Multiplayer Network Test and West Coast Map Details

Sega is gearing up to provide an early look at its highly anticipated Crazy Taxi: World Tour, which is slated for a 2027 release. Aspiring cab drivers will have the opportunity to participate in a closed network test this September, granting access to select online multiplayer functionalities. This initiative aims to refine the game's online experience before its official launch, allowing developers to gather crucial feedback from a diverse player base.

The network test for Crazy Taxi: World Tour is scheduled to commence in mid-September, specifically from 5 p.m. PDT on September 11th until 5 p.m. PDT on September 13th. Participants will get to explore two distinct online multiplayer modes: Pickup Race and Cops 'N' Cabbies. Both modes will be accessible through Ranked Match and Custom Match settings. Pickup Race will challenge up to six players to transport as many passengers as possible within a given time frame, vying for the highest 'crazy money' earnings. Cops 'N' Cabbies, on the other hand, will feature three teams of two players each, competing against each other while navigating the challenges posed by the in-game police force. The test environment will include two unique maps, four character options, and six customizable vehicles.

Beyond the network test announcement, Sega also unveiled more information regarding the game's West Coast map. This segment of the game world draws inspiration from San Francisco, featuring a less intense, more observational trailer compared to previous presentations. The trailer subtly showcases various new passenger types and, significantly, confirms the inclusion of officially licensed real-world businesses. IHOP and Amoeba Music are among the establishments that will appear in Crazy Taxi: World Tour, adding a layer of authenticity and familiarity to the game's urban landscape. This integration of real-world brands follows a pattern seen in other Sega titles, such as the Yakuza series, which frequently incorporates regional retailers and restaurants.

Players interested in joining the network test can register on the Crazy Taxi: World Tour website until 11:59 p.m. PDT on August 31st. The test will support cross-play, allowing gamers on PlayStation 5, Windows PC (via Steam and Xbox), and Xbox Series X to connect and play together.
