The highly anticipated fourth season of Apple TV's celebrated sports comedy, Ted Lasso, is on the horizon, with a new preview released in advance of its August 5th debut. This season will see Ted's comeback to Richmond, embarking on a new challenge in European football. Instead of continuing with his former English Premier League team, he will now guide a second-tier women's team.

The teaser hints at initial difficulties, some coaching staff encountering legal troubles, and the rekindling of a fan-favorite romantic dynamic. Alongside Jason Sudeikis's reprisal of the titular role, Hannah Waddingham will return as AFC Richmond's owner, Rebecca Welton. Other beloved cast members, including Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Willis Beard, and Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, are also slated to appear. This ten-episode fourth season is scheduled to air until October 7th on Apple TV.

For a period, Ted Lasso was a widespread cultural phenomenon, earning 61 Emmy nominations and securing the Best Comedy award for its initial two seasons. However, the third season faced mixed reactions due to its controversial character development. According to co-creator Jason Sudeikis, the series was initially conceived as a three-season narrative, which was evident in its conclusive ending. Despite this, Apple confirmed the show's renewal in March 2025.

It is understandable to approach Ted Lasso's return with some skepticism given the previous season's conclusion. However, introducing Ted as the coach of a new team offers a clever narrative reboot, preserving the elements that contributed to its widespread appeal. The latest trailer successfully recaptures the earnest sentiment and endearing charm that made the series a hit. The upcoming season will reveal if the show can replicate the excellence of its first two installments.
