Perenti's subsidiary, African Mining Services (AMS), has entered into a significant agreement to transfer its mining fleet to AngloGold Ashanti. This move signals a strategic shift for Perenti's contract mining operations and promises substantial capital recycling opportunities for the company.

Mining Fleet Sale and Transition at Iduapriem Gold Mine

In a notable development in the global mining sector, Perenti's African Mining Services (AMS), operating under the AMAX joint venture, has formally agreed to divest its mining fleet to AngloGold Ashanti. This transaction is a pivotal component of a comprehensive transition strategy at the Iduapriem Gold Mine, an open-pit operation situated in Ghana. AMS, alongside its local joint venture partner MaxMass, has been a key service provider at the Iduapriem site since 2018, delivering crucial surface mining and related services.

Under the recently inked agreement, AMAX will maintain its operational presence at the mine, continuing to provide essential surface mining and associated services for approximately six months following July 17, 2026, which marks the scheduled conclusion of the current contract period. Upon the contract's fulfillment, a significant portion of the equipment owned by AMS at the Iduapriem site will be systematically transferred to AngloGold Ashanti. The financial terms of the fleet sale, established within the contract, project an estimated revenue for AMS ranging between A$30 million and A$40 million (equivalent to approximately $21 million to $28 million USD). The overall value of the contract stands at around A$95 million.

Gabrielle Iwanow, President of Contract Mining at Perenti, expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the Iduapriem transition agreement, highlighting its importance for the ongoing evolution of Perenti's contract mining portfolio. She commended the AMS team for their commendable performance at Iduapriem over the past eight years and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to delivering professional services until the official handover of operations. Vanessa Torres, Managing Director and CEO of Perenti, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the agreement as a testament to AMS's consistent record of strong operational delivery and enduring partnerships across the African continent. She underscored the strategic advantage of the equipment sale, which provides both certainty and an invaluable opportunity for Perenti to recycle capital within its operations.

This transaction follows Perenti's earlier success in April of this year, when it extended its contract with Regis Resources to continue providing underground mining services at the Duketon Operations located in Western Australia, further solidifying its presence and capabilities in the mining services landscape.

This strategic divestiture at the Iduapriem Gold Mine underscores the dynamic nature of the mining industry and the continuous evolution of operational strategies. It highlights the importance of adaptability and forward-thinking in resource management and capital deployment.
