As the 1990s ushered in the mainstream era of sport utility vehicles, transforming them from rugged utility vehicles into the comfortable family transporters we recognize today, the Ford Expedition emerged as a prominent player. In anticipation of its 30th anniversary in 2027, Ford is set to release a distinctive Appearance Package to commemorate this significant milestone.

A standout feature of this celebratory package is its exterior finish: Ford's exclusive Blue Ember metallic tri-coat paint. This color, initially reserved for the high-performance Mustang Dark Horse, brings a touch of sporty elegance to the full-size SUV. Complementing this unique paintwork are 22-inch high-gloss ebony wheels, enhancing the vehicle's commanding presence. Inside the cabin, the special edition Expedition will feature embossed 30th-anniversary badges on the sliding center console and door sills, providing subtle yet exclusive touches. This anniversary offering will be available for Expedition models equipped with the Stealth Appearance Package and will be further distinguished by a sophisticated Salt Crystal Gray interior.

Since its introduction in 1996 for the 1997 model year, Ford has sold nearly three million Expeditions across five generations. The model has seen various notable special editions, such as the Eddie Bauer, solidifying its place in automotive history. The recently updated fifth-generation Expedition, introduced for the 2025 model year, continues this legacy. It boasts a powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A high-output version, standard on the Tremor and optional for the Platinum trim, pushes these figures to 440 hp and 510 lb-ft, all managed by a 10-speed automatic transmission. The interior has received a comprehensive redesign, featuring an entirely new dashboard, advanced screens, and an updated steering wheel, including a prominent 24.0-inch digital instrument cluster positioned high on the dashboard.

The Ford Expedition's enduring success over three decades reflects a continuous commitment to innovation, comfort, and capability. This special anniversary edition not only celebrates its rich history but also highlights its evolution into a more luxurious and powerful vehicle, symbolizing a brand that consistently adapts to meet the evolving needs of its customers while staying true to its core values of quality and performance.
