New York sports enthusiasts can now celebrate a major upgrade to their streaming options as the troubled Gotham Sports application is set to be decommissioned. In its place, DAZN, a recognized global sports streaming service, will assume exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming rights for content from MSG Networks and YES Network. This change signals a new era for fans of local teams like the Yankees and Knicks, who have long awaited a more reliable and seamless way to watch their favorite games.

This significant shift is the result of a new agreement between MSG Networks, YES Network, and DAZN, establishing the latter as the sole platform offering 24/7 access to channels such as MSG, MSG Sportsnet, and YES. Beyond live game broadcasts, DAZN will also provide a wealth of on-demand content, including highlights, behind-the-scenes footage, and original programming. The new arrangement is slated to commence with the start of the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons. Critically, existing cable subscribers with MSG Networks and/or YES Network will gain access to this improved streaming service through DAZN without incurring additional costs, resolving a long-standing frustration for viewers.

The move comes as a welcome relief following widespread dissatisfaction with the Gotham Sports app, which was plagued by technical issues ranging from buffering to persistent login problems. Industry executives, including Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, and Jon Litner, President and CEO of YES Network, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. They highlighted DAZN's advanced technology and extensive experience in live sports streaming, promising an immersive digital experience that goes beyond simply watching games and reaffirms their dedication to enhancing sports coverage for fans across the United States and globally.

This transition marks a positive evolution in sports broadcasting, ensuring that fans receive the high-quality, dependable streaming experience they deserve. By leveraging DAZN's robust platform, New York's beloved sports franchises can connect with their audience more effectively, fostering a stronger sense of community and shared passion for the game.
