While retaining its foundational platform from the 2023 model, this comprehensive update, shared with the gasoline-powered 7-series, represents an unprecedented mid-cycle transformation by BMW. The distinctive two-tiered headlight arrangement has been replaced with single-strip daytime running lights positioned below the hood's edge, with an option for crystal headlights embedded with 12 individual crystals for enhanced visual appeal. A revolutionary Panoramic iDrive display redefines instrumentation, projecting crucial vehicle data onto a darkened glass strip across the windshield, visible from A-pillar to A-pillar. This innovative display positions speedometer and battery information directly ahead of the driver, while media details and BMW's AI assistant avatar float above a new 17.9-inch hexagonal touchscreen for infotainment. Beyond its striking aesthetics and luxurious interior, the 2027 i7 features significant advancements in its powertrain and battery technology. It incorporates BMW's sixth-generation eDrive system, specifically developed for Neue Klasse vehicles, which includes a larger 113-kWh modular battery pack with improved cylindrical cells. These cells offer a 20 percent higher energy density compared to previous generations, leading to extended driving ranges and faster charging capabilities. The electric motors have also been optimized for better efficiency and packaging. All i7 models will come equipped with a standard NACS charge port, along with various adapters for different charger types. The maximum charging rate has been substantially increased to 250 kW, allowing for a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 28 minutes at a DC fast-charger. The i760 xDrive model is projected to achieve approximately 350 miles of range on a single charge. BMW will initially offer two variants: the i750 xDrive and the i760 xDrive. The i750 xDrive, now with standard all-wheel drive, replaces the previous rear-wheel-drive entry model and delivers 449 horsepower, while the i760 xDrive boasts 536 horsepower. The i750 is estimated to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, with the i760 achieving it in 4.6 seconds. Prices start at $107,750 for the i750 xDrive and $126,250 for the i760 xDrive, representing a modest increase over 2026 models, particularly highlighting the value of the all-wheel-drive i750. Production is slated to begin in July at BMW's Dingolfing plant in Germany, with vehicles expected to reach showrooms shortly thereafter.
