Fans of The Witcher universe have exciting developments on the horizon, with the series' original author, Andrzej Sapkowski, confirming work on an additional book. This announcement adds to the anticipation already surrounding several projects, including a remastered edition of The Witcher 3, a new expansion titled 'Songs of the Past', and the eagerly awaited The Witcher 4, slated for a 2028 release. Enthusiasts who appreciate the deep lore underpinning both the acclaimed video games and the Netflix adaptation will be pleased to know that more adventures from the pen of its creator are on the way.

During a recent public appearance in Poland, Sapkowski officially disclosed that he is crafting another installment in The Witcher saga, with a target completion date set for late 2027. Sources like Redanian Intelligence indicate that the narrative will once again center on the iconic monster hunter, Geralt. Sapkowski has clearly stated his intention to continue focusing on Geralt's journey, rather than developing stories around other beloved characters from the series, such as Yennefer.

The previous literary offering, "The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens," published in 2025, served as a prequel, detailing a younger Geralt's initial forays into his dangerous profession. Given that Geralt is portrayed as a middle-aged figure in the established short stories and novels, there remains ample scope to delve into earlier, uncharted periods of his life. Sapkowski acknowledged this potential in an interview, stating, "Sky is the limit" when questioned about further prequels exploring Geralt's formative years. He also expressed an interest in composing more short stories, echoing the format in which The Witcher series originally began, with two collections preceding the first full-length novel, "Blood of Elves."

Despite the prospect of revisiting Geralt's past or present, Sapkowski conveyed the inherent difficulties in crafting succinct narratives. He remarked that "It is not an easy thing to create a good short story. This is much more difficult than writing a novel." Regardless of whether the forthcoming book features a less experienced or a battle-hardened Geralt, the author's aim is to conclude it by the close of the upcoming year. If Sapkowski adheres to his schedule, Polish readers might see the new volume as early as late 2027 or early 2028. Following the precedent set by "Crossroads of Ravens," international audiences can likely expect translations to become available approximately a year later, extending the wait for fans worldwide.
