Valmet, a Finnish company, has announced a substantial contract with Sun Paper for the provision of a comprehensive board production line, accompanied by sophisticated automation technologies and extensive life cycle support, destined for Sun Paper's Nanning mill in China. This strategic investment is poised to significantly enhance Sun Paper's output of containerboard, aligning with the company's commitment to energy efficiency and responsible resource utilization. The new production line is expected to be fully operational by the close of 2027, marking a pivotal step in the expansion of Sun Paper's manufacturing capabilities.

The agreement encompasses a full-scale board machine, from the initial headboxes to the final winders, integrating several cutting-edge features that represent a notable advancement in the region's industry. Among these innovations is the Sleeve roll technology, specifically designed to optimize dewatering during the forming process through controlled fabric compression, thereby promoting more efficient energy consumption. Furthermore, the dryer section will incorporate a novel compact design, ensuring effective board drying and superior operational stability. The installation of two winders is also included, aimed at bolstering production reliability, achieving capacity targets, and improving roll quality. Beyond equipment, the contract extends to comprehensive services, including the supply of spare parts, digital services, and paper machine clothing, all intended to guarantee consistent production and sustained long-term performance of the board machine. This collaboration also involves upgrades to existing machinery at Sun Paper's facilities, reinforcing their operational efficiency.

Ying Guangdong, Vice-General Manager and Chief Engineer at Sun Paper, emphasized that the high-capacity machine design and the selected advanced technologies are critical to meeting their goals for energy-efficient and stable production. He expressed confidence that these solutions will not only deliver robust performance but also contribute to reduced energy consumption and the successful attainment of their capacity objectives. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to sustainable industrial practices and technological innovation in the paper and packaging sector, fostering both economic growth and environmental stewardship.
