The latest 2026 Summer Update from Tesla introduces a major upgrade to its Grok AI assistant, transforming it from a conversational tool into a comprehensive vehicle control system. This update, identified as firmware 2026.26.6.5, allows owners to manage various car functionalities through voice commands, including climate settings, mirror adjustments, wiper speeds, and navigation requests.

A community evaluation by Drive Tesla Canada demonstrated Grok's impressive capability, successfully executing 116 out of 170 tested voice commands without any manual input, achieving a remarkable 68% accuracy. The system now supports intricate commands, such as adjusting cabin temperature, controlling defrosters, and even activating Sentry Mode or saving Dashcam clips. A notable advancement is Grok's ability to process and act upon multiple commands given in a single sentence, streamlining interactions for drivers.

However, the full suite of these enhanced voice features is exclusively compatible with Tesla vehicles powered by the AMD Ryzen infotainment processor. Owners of older models still utilizing the Intel Atom hardware will not receive these expanded functionalities, highlighting a significant hardware-based limitation in accessing the latest technological improvements.

The integration of advanced voice commands in Tesla vehicles marks a substantial leap towards a more intuitive and hands-free driving experience.
