In a significant leadership transition, Story Syndicate, the renowned production company co-founded by Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan, has announced the elevation of Jon Bardin to the position of President of Documentary and Unscripted. This promotion reflects Bardin's integral role and expanding influence since joining the company at its founding in 2019.

Bardin's enhanced responsibilities will encompass spearheading Story Syndicate's foray into ongoing nonfiction programming, including successful ventures like the series Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross. He will also continue to manage the company's equity fund, launched in 2025 to strategically invest in commercially viable documentary projects. Reporting directly to CEO Dan Cogan, Bardin's leadership team is composed of key personnel across production, development, post-production, business affairs, and finance.

The co-founders, Cogan and Garbus, lauded Bardin's exceptional judgment, creative vision, and strong relationships within the industry as pivotal to the company's achievements. His extensive background, including a PhD in neuroscience and prior experience as a VP at The Discovery Channel, has uniquely positioned him to guide Story Syndicate's diverse slate of projects, which includes acclaimed works such as Fauci, Harry & Meghan, and Titan: The OceanGate Disaster.

This strategic appointment underscores Story Syndicate's commitment to innovation and excellence in nonfiction storytelling. Bardin's leadership is poised to drive the company toward new heights, fostering an environment where impactful and thought-provoking content can thrive, contributing meaningfully to the cultural landscape of documentary filmmaking.
