Paramount+'s new legal thriller, 'Discretion,' featuring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, has officially commenced production, announcing the addition of Stephan James and Colton Ryan to its cast. This series promises a gripping narrative centered on a Dallas law firm, delving into themes of hidden truths and power dynamics.

Stephan James, known for his performances in "If Beale Street Could Talk" and "I Play Rocky," and Colton Ryan, recognized from "The Girl From Plainville" and Broadway's "New York, New York," are set to join the ensemble alongside Josh Lucas. Ryan's involvement marks a professional reunion with Fanning, as they previously shared the screen in the Hulu limited series "The Girl From Plainville."

The series, greenlit for an eight-episode run on Paramount+, is adapted from a short story by Chandler Baker, who is also contributing as a writer and executive producer. The storyline follows Lenny (Elle Fanning), a summer associate at a distinguished Dallas legal practice, who uncovers a network of non-disclosure agreements concealing a dark reality. Her findings place her in direct opposition to Sharon (Nicole Kidman), the firm's most influential female partner, transforming their mentor-protégé relationship and raising profound questions about the nature of secrecy and its ramifications.

James will portray Logan, a astute corporate associate who emerges as a mentor to Lenny, while Ryan takes on the role of Boone, Lenny's former boyfriend. Boone is depicted as a recovering addict from an affluent Dallas lineage, currently living in a halfway house and striving to rebuild his life after nine months of sobriety. The production team also includes executive producers Per Saari for Blossom Films, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures, and Jordan Cerf of Linden Entertainment with Joe Hipps of Cut To. Matt Shakman is slated to direct the initial four episodes and will also serve as an executive producer. A24 is producing the series for Paramount+.

The cast additions of Stephan James and Colton Ryan further enhance the anticipation for 'Discretion.' Their involvement underscores the show's commitment to compelling storytelling and strong character development, promising an engaging legal drama that explores the complexities of justice and personal integrity within a high-stakes corporate environment.
