Sky and NOW to Host Second Season of 'Saturday Night Live UK' Starting September 12

London, England – August 12, 2026 – The acclaimed British adaptation of NBC's iconic comedy series, Saturday Night Live UK, is scheduled to launch its second season on September 12. Viewers across the United Kingdom will be able to catch the live broadcasts exclusively on Sky and the streaming platform NOW. The new season will comprise six fresh episodes, with additional installments anticipated in early 2027.

This British iteration, known for its dynamic live format, will continue its tradition of featuring a different prominent celebrity host and a musical guest each week. Audiences can look forward to a blend of satirical sketches, vibrant live musical acts, and a distinctively British rendition of the much-loved "Weekend Update" segment. The first season saw an impressive lineup of hosts, including global stars such as Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood, Hannah Waddingham, and Ncuti Gatwa, whose performances contributed to the show's initial success. Tina Fey's premiere episode alone attracted over 220,000 viewers in Britain, underscoring the show's strong appeal.

All eleven original cast members from the inaugural season are confirmed to return, ensuring continuity and familiar faces for the fanbase. This ensemble includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. Behind the scenes, the production team sees Laura Claxton elevated to co-head writer, joining existing head writer Jonno Johnson. Liz Clare will resume her role as director, while Heather MacVean steps in as the new costume designer, and Sinead Oldnall takes charge as the director of onscreen talent. Lorne Michaels, the creator of the original Saturday Night Live, will continue as executive producer, with James Longman serving as lead producer.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the show's renewal, Lorne Michaels commented, "I am incredibly proud of our dedicated team and the caliber of our show. It consistently improves with each passing week. I extend my gratitude to Dana Strong and Sky for their unwavering belief in and support of SNL UK. I am eagerly anticipating the exciting season ahead."

The return of Saturday Night Live UK for a second season signifies the continued global appeal of the sketch comedy format and the successful localization of a beloved American institution. The combination of a strong cast, experienced production team, and the promise of new, engaging content suggests a bright future for the show, providing a platform for both established and emerging British comedic talent. Its live format allows for timely and relevant commentary, making it a valuable addition to the U.K. television landscape.
