Sega is set to introduce a new 'Sonic the Hedgehog' title, tentatively named 'Sonic Forces', to the Nex Playground platform in 2026. This release will celebrate the iconic franchise's 35th anniversary. Developed by HARDlight Studios, the game promises a re-imagined, physically engaging experience, diverging from traditional mobile gameplay. It will be accessible via Nex Playground's content subscription service, Play Pass.

This collaboration marks a significant expansion for Nex Playground, extending its reach into the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. David Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of Nex, highlighted that integrating a globally recognized character like Sonic enriches their community and reinforces their dedication to fostering active play among families. He emphasized that 'Sonic Forces' transforms the popular mobile concept into a truly physical interactive experience, encouraging families to engage in movement and shared play.

Beyond the Sonic announcement, the gaming world buzzes with other exciting news. K-pop sensation Le Sserafim is slated to be the closing musical act at BlizzCon 2026 on September 13th, marking their return after a successful performance in 2023. Furthermore, Nex is joining forces with HYBE to launch a BTS-themed music experience on Nex Playground. This innovative partnership will allow players to interact with BTS's music through full-body motion-tracking technology, offering a unique way to engage with the popular K-pop group at home, and expanding the 'Starri' franchise.
