During a recent red carpet event for Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic, 'The Odyssey,' actor Robert Pattinson offered an intriguing comparison between his character, Antinous, and Jacob from the beloved 'Twilight' series. When asked about portraying a character audiences might not naturally support, Pattinson confidently asserted that viewers would, in fact, be on Antinous's side, echoing the divisive fan loyalties of his past projects.

Pattinson, famous for his portrayal of the vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' films, explained his reasoning. He suggested that Antinous's pursuit of Penelope, under the belief that her husband Odysseus has perished, creates a scenario reminiscent of the 'Team Edward' vs. 'Team Jacob' rivalry that captivated 'Twilight' fans. With a playful tone, he indicated that Antinous is merely attempting to assist Penelope in making a choice, humorously adding, "He's gone, move on!"

This lighthearted comment also touched upon the lingering fan debate from the 'Twilight' saga, where viewers passionately aligned with either Pattinson's Edward or Taylor Lautner's Jacob in their competition for Bella Swan's affection. This ongoing discussion was highlighted when a reporter at a press conference for Pattinson's other film, 'The Drama,' openly declared herself 'Team Jacob,' to which Pattinson jokingly responded that 'Team Jacob' was primarily a marketing construct. 'The Odyssey' is set to premiere on July 17th.

The convergence of modern cinematic roles with classic mythological narratives, as illuminated by Robert Pattinson, demonstrates how timeless themes of love, loyalty, and rivalry continue to resonate with contemporary audiences. His insights encourage a deeper appreciation for character development, reminding us that even morally ambiguous figures can garner unexpected sympathy, and that sometimes, a good story is simply about the journey, and the choices characters make along the way.
