Record-Breaking Emmy Nominations for 'Hacks' Final Season

The acclaimed HBO Max comedy series, 'Hacks', has concluded its run with an extraordinary achievement, garnering the most Emmy nominations for a comedy in a single year with its final season. This remarkable feat positions the show as a standout in television history, celebrating its artistic excellence and widespread appeal.

On Wednesday morning, the series collected an impressive 24 nominations, surpassing the prior records set by 'The Studio' in 2025 and 'The Bear' in 2024, both of which received 23 nods. 'Hacks' also outdid 'Schitt's Creek' for the most nominations in a comedy series' farewell season, which previously held the record with 15 nominations in 2020. The recognition for 'Hacks'' fifth and concluding season includes top honors such as Best Comedy Series, a nomination for lead actress Jean Smart, and nods for supporting actresses Hannah Einbinder and Megan Stalter, as well as supporting actor Paul W. Downs. Furthermore, the show received commendations for its writing and directing, along with recognition for guest appearances by Leslie Bibb, Laurie Metcalf, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Lauren Weedman, and Cherry Jones.

Throughout its broadcast, 'Hacks' has accumulated a grand total of 86 Emmy nominations and 12 wins, including four previous victories for Jean Smart, one for Hannah Einbinder, and the Best Comedy Series award in 2024. The series, which chronicled the dynamic relationship between legendary comedian Deborah Vance and comedy writer Ava Daniels, concluded its compelling narrative in May. Other notable contenders in this year's nominations include 'The Pitt,' which leads overall with 25 nods and tops the drama category, followed by 'Widow's Bay' with 19, 'Pluribus' with 18, and 'Beef' with 16. The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, is scheduled to air live on Monday, September 14, from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, broadcast on NBC and available for streaming on Peacock.
