This weekend, two Porsche 963 racing machines will hit the track at Laguna Seca, showcasing a distinctive Apple Computer paint scheme. This special design is a nostalgic nod to the livery famously worn by the privateer Porsche 935 K3 during the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it is undeniably captivating.

Beyond its historical significance, this unique livery also marks two important anniversaries: Porsche's 75th year and Apple's 50th year since its inception. The recognizable, multicolored Apple logo will be prominently featured on the roof, with the company's signature bright hues accentuating various parts of the car, including the fenders, hood, bumper, and vertical stabilizer.

The pair of Porsche 963s will participate in the fourth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on May 3rd, competing in the GTP class. A representative from Apple, specifically the vice president of Apple Music, Sport, and Beats, shared insights into this collaboration: "Our relationship with Porsche has been long-standing, dating back to 1980 when a Porsche race car first displayed the Apple logo. That moment ignited a shared passion for innovation and creativity that continues to define our partnership today. As Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are proud to once again collaborate with Porsche on a design that honors that original 1980 livery."

This initiative beautifully marries automotive performance with technological legacy, highlighting how shared values can transcend industries and create something truly memorable. It's a testament to enduring partnerships and the power of design to evoke history while looking towards the future. This return of a beloved design reminds us that innovation often has deep roots in tradition, inspiring both nostalgia and excitement for what's next in the world of racing and technology.
