Pokemon Go's "World Space Week 2026" Features Exclusive Astronaut Pikachu
From October 4th to October 10th, 2026, Pokemon Go trainers are invited to participate in the "World Space Week 2026" event, a surprise addition to the game's calendar. This concise event, while lacking extensive bonuses, centers around the exclusive debut of an astronaut-costumed Pikachu. Players eager to add this charming variant to their collection have two primary avenues for acquisition: challenging and defeating the astronaut Pikachu in one-star raids, or successfully completing the event's dedicated Timed Research tasks.
The Timed Research for "World Space Week 2026" consists of a series of raid-focused objectives. Trainers are required to win five raids, with each victory yielding incremental rewards. Specifically, winning one raid grants 2,500 XP, two raids provide 2,500 Stardust, three raids another 2,500 XP, four raids a further 2,500 Stardust, and finally, winning five raids awards 2,500 XP. Upon the successful completion of all five stages, players will be rewarded with a guaranteed encounter with the astronaut Pikachu, along with an additional 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust. A significant highlight for collectors is the possibility of encountering a shiny version of the astronaut Pikachu, making participation in raids even more enticing, as its future availability in the game remains uncertain.
This special event encourages players to engage with the game's raid system, offering a focused and rewarding experience. The opportunity to catch a unique, potentially shiny, costumed Pokemon within a short timeframe adds an element of urgency and excitement for dedicated trainers.
The introduction of the astronaut Pikachu, coupled with the focused Timed Research, provides a refreshing, albeit brief, new challenge for Pokemon Go players. It serves as a reminder of the game's capacity to surprise its community with unexpected, themed content, encouraging active participation and adding diverse collectibles to the vast world of Pokemon. The allure of a potentially shiny, space-faring Pikachu undoubtedly motivates trainers to engage fully with this cosmic event.
