Parker Posey has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming horror movie 'Sleepover,' a joint venture by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures, with the theatrical release scheduled for October 8, 2027.

The film will be helmed by Jacob Chase, who also directed 'Insidious: Out of the Further.' Chase co-authored the screenplay with Bryce McGuire, known for 'Night Swim,' adapting it from McGuire's original short story. Additional cast members and plot specifics are currently being kept under wraps. Posey's extensive background in the horror genre, including her memorable performance as Jennifer Jolie in 'Scream 3' (2000) and her portrayal of the vampire CEO Danica Talos in 'Blade: Trinity' (2004), makes her a fitting choice for this role. Her recent credits include the films 'Thelma' and 'Beau Is Afraid,' as well as the third season of HBO's 'White Lotus.' She is also slated to appear in Martin McDonagh’s 'Wild Horse Nine,' premiering at the 2026 Venice Film Festival and set for a November 6 release, and will host the new reality competition series 'The Mob' on Hulu starting October 26.

Jason Blum serves as producer for 'Sleepover,' with Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira taking on executive producer roles. Lilly Tyson is overseeing the project. This film marks another collaboration between Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Jacob Chase, following their successful partnership on 'Insidious: Out of the Further,' which garnered $169 million worldwide against an $18 million budget. Chase's directing portfolio also includes the 2020 horror movie 'Come Play' and Peacock's 'The Girl and the Woods.' Parker Posey is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman, and Independent Public Relations.

This new horror production not only highlights Parker Posey's versatile acting career but also reinforces the collaborative strength between established production houses and emerging talent in the horror film industry. The project signifies a commitment to delivering compelling and thrilling narratives to audiences, continuing a tradition of innovative storytelling that captivates and engages viewers worldwide.
