The film has captivated audiences, significantly outpacing other major releases, including the popular superhero sequel "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," and demonstrating a sustained strong run in the market.
During the period of August 28th to 30th, "The Odyssey" commanded the South Korean box office, pulling in an impressive $8.7 million. This substantial figure was generated from approximately 1,058,642 ticket sales across 2,071 screens, capturing a significant 64.7% of the total weekend’s cinematic revenue. Marking its fourth weekend since its August 5th premiere, the movie has accumulated a remarkable total of $71.7 million from 8,864,947 admissions, solidifying its status as a late-summer theatrical triumph.
Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" maintained its second-place standing in its fifth weekend. The superhero blockbuster added $1.9 million to its earnings from 250,442 admissions, contributing 14.4% to the weekend's market share. Its cumulative domestic revenue now stands at $65 million, with 8,548,400 tickets sold since its release.
A notable newcomer, the local family drama "The Journey to Gyeongju," made its debut at third place. The film, directed by Kim Mi-jo, chronicles the emotional journey of a mother and her three daughters as they travel to Gyeongju to confront the individual responsible for a family tragedy. Featuring a cast including Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, Lee Yeon, and Byun Yo-han, the film garnered $912,660 from 124,963 admissions across 801 screens in its opening weekend. Since its launch on August 26th, it has collected $1.3 million from 192,384 total admissions.

The animated feature "Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone" secured fifth place, adding $283,019 from 39,740 admissions. This musical fantasy, directed by Kim Soo-hoon, has now amassed $5.7 million from 838,709 viewers since its August 5th debut. The horror sequel "Insidious: Out of the Further" moved into sixth place in its second week, with an additional $169,467 from 22,129 admissions, pushing its overall South Korean earnings past the million-dollar mark to $1.1 million from 148,333 viewers. "Detective Conan the Movie: Fallen Angel of the Highway" claimed seventh, collecting $154,613 from 20,686 admissions, contributing to its total of $2.9 million from 403,090 admissions. The local action-comedy "Ok! Madam: Bon Voyage" ranked eighth, taking in $80,132 from 10,969 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to $2.2 million from 334,907 ticket purchasers.
