Laufey Joins United Talent Agency Roster for Global Representation
Laufey, the acclaimed singer-songwriter recognized for her unique fusion of pop and traditional jazz, has officially joined United Talent Agency (UTA) for global representation across all facets of her career. This strategic partnership seeks to expand her presence in live touring, media, filmed entertainment, and brand endorsements, marking a significant step in her burgeoning career.
This collaboration is announced as Laufey is on a worldwide tour supporting her Grammy-winning 2025 album, “A Matter of Time.” The album, which garnered widespread praise and reached number four on the Billboard 200, alongside her 2023 release “Bewitched,” secured Grammy Awards in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category. Her musical style has been instrumental in reintroducing classic sounds to a new generation of listeners.
Born of Chinese-Icelandic heritage, Laufey has received numerous accolades for her contributions to music and culture. Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir bestowed upon her the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Falcon, recognizing her significant impact on the nation’s artistic and international reputation. She was also highlighted in Time magazine's 2025 list of women of the year and received the Crossover Artist of the Year award at Variety’s 2024 Hitmakers event, celebrating her ability to bridge musical genres.
Despite her mastery of jazz guitar and her academic background as a trained jazz vocalist, Laufey often expresses reservations about being exclusively labeled a jazz musician. She previously noted, “I don’t fully consider myself a jazz artist because not all my songs fit strictly into that genre, and it could be disrespectful to purists in the jazz community to claim that my albums are entirely jazz.” She acknowledges that while many of her tracks resonate with jazz standards, her eclectic style means she wouldn't feel completely at home in a purely pop category either, highlighting her distinctive artistic identity.
She further elaborated on her musical journey, stating, “My early musical education was primarily in classical and jazz, and jazz vocalists have profoundly influenced my singing style. As a formally trained jazz singer, topping the charts with an audience that typically doesn’t listen to jazz was incredibly rewarding and unexpected, making the achievement even more significant.”
The signing with UTA is poised to further elevate Laufey's global standing, leveraging her artistic versatility and widespread appeal to explore new creative avenues and solidify her position as a leading voice in contemporary music.
