KonoSuba Season 4 Confirmed for 2027 with New Studio ENGI
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World stands out as a prominent work within the isekai anime genre. The series is also recognized for its history of production studio changes, a pattern that continues with its upcoming fourth season.
The official announcement on July 26 confirmed that KonoSuba Season 4 is set to premiere in 2027. This exciting news for fans also revealed that Studio ENGI will take over production from Studio Drive, which handled Season 3. This transition means KonoSuba will have been produced by four different animation studios, following Studio Deen's work on the first two seasons and J.C. Staff's production of the movie, KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson.
While switching production studios between seasons is not uncommon in the anime industry, consistency is often preferred. However, series like Vinland Saga and Attack on Titan have demonstrated that quality can be maintained despite such changes. In KonoSuba's case, the shift to ENGI is likely due to its ownership by Kadokawa, the series' IP holder, as Kadokawa seeks to manage more of its intellectual properties in-house. Although ENGI is a relatively new studio, KonoSuba represents its most significant project to date. Fortunately, Takaomi Kanasaki, the director of the first season, will return for Season 4, offering a reassuring presence for fans. Kanasaki's past work includes the critically acclaimed anime Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
