Kiran Abbavaram's Mythological Action-Fantasy Film 'Indraputra' Announced by Zee Studios
Zee Studios has officially revealed the title of Kiran Abbavaram's forthcoming mythological action-fantasy venture as 'Indraputra'. This ambitious pan-Indian production, under the direction of Srikanth Puppala, is set to initiate its primary filming schedule in October. The film promises to explore themes rooted in ancient Hindu philosophy, specifically the timeless struggle between 'dharma' (righteous duty) and 'adharma' (its violation), positioning itself as the inaugural installment of a larger cinematic universe.
Kiran Abbavaram, known for his diverse roles, expressed his enthusiasm for this unique project. He highlighted that 'Indraputra' diverges significantly from his previous work, offering an unconventional and stimulating acting challenge. Abbavaram's career began in 2019 with the romantic comedy 'Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru', and his prominence grew with the 2021 release 'SR Kalyanamandapam', which he also penned. His subsequent filmography includes 'Sebastian P.C. 524' and 'Sammathame' in 2022, followed by three releases in 2023, among them 'Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha'. More recently, he featured in 'K-Ramp' and 'Chennai Love Story'.
The production of 'Indraputra' is a collaborative effort between Zee Studios and Prerna Arora, with Keerthan serving as co-producer. The film is currently in its pre-production phase, with the announcement of the supporting cast, technical team, and official release date expected shortly. This marks Srikanth Puppala's debut as a feature film director, having previously contributed to the direction teams of films such as 'Kudi Yedamaithe', 'Katamarayudu', and 'Gopala Gopala'. He also served as the first assistant director for Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1'.

'Indraputra' joins a growing trend of pan-Indian mythological projects, following Ele Animations' 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath' (part of the Sanatan Universe) and Hombale Films and Kleem Productions' 'Mahavatar Cinematic Universe', which plans seven animated features based on Vishnu's avatars, beginning with 2025's 'Mahavatar Narsimha' and extending through 2037.
