Key figures, including Tetsuya Nomura and co-director Tai Yasue, shared insights into the franchise's evolution and the selection process for adapting Disney narratives. This presentation featured an extended version of the latest trailer, offering a deeper dive into the game's mechanics and story.

An Expanded Glimpse: The Extended Trailer's Revelations

The updated trailer, a four-minute spectacle, broadened the view of Coco's world and showcased Sora's skirmishes against the new Heartless iterations within Quadratum. Beyond Sora's adventures, it hinted at segments where players would control Donald and Goofy in Coco's realm, battling foes independently. Additionally, Mickey Mouse's platforming sequences in his unique world were highlighted, described by Yasue as having a "puzzle-based game design" reminiscent of Paper Mario, featuring transformations into various origami forms.

Sora's Evolved Combat and Unveiled Mysteries

Sora remains a central figure, with battles retaining the series' signature action-RPG flair. A notable change sees him fighting alongside characters beyond Donald and Goofy, such as Hector and Miguel from Coco, as briefly shown in the trailer. Sora also gains new traversal abilities, adding fresh dimensions to exploration. Nomura teased an unrevealed concept, an idea brewing since Kingdom Hearts 3's development, promising further innovations.

Voice Talent Reunion: A Nostalgic Look Back

The panel also brought together Haley Joel Osment (Sora) and David Gallagher (Riku), who reminisced about their experiences voicing the beloved characters. Miyu Irino, Sora's Japanese voice actor, contributed via video, sharing similar reflections. A highlight was Osment and Gallagher's live performance of the concluding scene from Kingdom Hearts 2, marking their first in-person joint voice-acting session for the series.

Anticipated Launch and Expanding Horizons

First teased in 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 saw further details emerge earlier this year, notably concluding June's Nintendo Direct and Disney's D23 showcase. The latter confirmed a late 2027 release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, a commitment reinforced by Yasue and Nomura. Furthermore, a Kingdom Hearts anime is in development for Disney Plus, though its release timeframe remains undisclosed.
