This year, the Wessel & Vett Prize introduced several notable changes. Each of the four finalists for the 2026 award – Berner Kühl, Bonnetje, Caro Editions, and O. Files – received €10,000, with an additional €40,000 awarded to the ultimate winner, Berner Kühl. Breaking from tradition, the jury, which included a distinguished editor, visited each designer in their own creative spaces, allowing for a more intimate and comprehensive evaluation of their work. A unique bronze statuette, created by Danish artist Esben Weile Kjær and depicting an imaginary character named Julian Luxford, was presented to Kühl. This statuette holds historical significance, connecting to the foundation's origins through Theodor Wessel, co-founder of the Magazin du Nord department store in 1868.
