Ford's 2027 Super Duty trucks are undergoing substantial modifications to their powertrain options. The 6.8-liter gasoline V8 engine is being phased out, elevating the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 to the standard offering. This strategic shift streamlines the engine selection for buyers, prioritizing robust performance. The company is also discontinuing the standard output version of the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel, although the high-output variant will remain available. These adjustments reflect a clear focus on providing more powerful and efficient choices for the Super Duty lineup.

The integration of the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 as the base engine for the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty models marks a notable upgrade. This engine boasts an impressive 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque, surpassing the previous 6.8-liter V8's output of 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. This enhancement will ensure that even the entry-level Super Duty trucks deliver formidable performance capabilities. The decision to retain only the high-output version of the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel, which generates 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, further underscores Ford's commitment to maximizing power and torque for its heavy-duty customers.

Beyond the engine revisions, the 2027 Super Duty will introduce several other notable changes. The Tremor Off-Road Package will now be accessible across all trim levels, including the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum models, provided they are equipped with the 176-inch wheelbase and 8.0-foot bed. This expanded availability allows more buyers to enhance their trucks' off-road capabilities. Furthermore, LED lamps will become a more common feature, included in the SXT and XLT Premium Packages and standard on the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. An all-new XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package will also be offered, catering to those seeking even greater off-road prowess. Additionally, the color palette will be refreshed with the introduction of Neptune Blue and Iconic Silver Metallic, replacing the outgoing Argon Blue Metallic and Avalanche.

These comprehensive updates to the 2027 Ford Super Duty suggest a strategic alignment with consumer preferences for more potent engines and a broader range of features, particularly for off-road enthusiasts. While the exact pricing for these new configurations is yet to be officially released, the enhanced standard engine and feature availability are expected to offer significant value. The streamlining of the engine lineup to two powerful options, coupled with expanded package availability and cosmetic updates, positions the Super Duty to continue its legacy as a leader in the heavy-duty truck segment, meeting the demanding needs of its diverse customer base.
