Embark on a captivating journey through the perplexing world of 'Control Resonant' with this detailed walkthrough for 'The Last Taxi' side quest. Players will delve into paranatural thresholds by interacting with peculiar driverless taxis, each presenting unique challenges. The primary objective is to locate all elusive taxis across diverse zones and unravel their intricate puzzles to liberate a trapped woman named Mila. This guide offers a comprehensive roadmap to successfully navigate each area, identify the taxis, and solve their distinctive enigmas, ensuring a smooth progression through this intriguing mission.

The 'Last Taxi' quest involves a series of engagements with mysterious taxis that transport you to alternate realities, known as thresholds. Each threshold harbors a specific puzzle that must be solved to advance. The taxis can be found in various locations, including Central, the West Incursion Zone, the Evacuation Zone, Downtown, The Park, the Underpass, and an Unknown zone. To initiate the quest, simply approach any honking taxi, and once inside, interact with the payphone in the alleyway to learn about Mila's plight. Her story unfolds as you successfully clear more thresholds, revealing deeper layers of the game's narrative.

In the Central zone, the taxi is situated in the northwesternmost alleyway, reachable by crossing rooftops from the Patterned Factory. The puzzle here requires identifying taxis based on their light configurations: first, a car with only rear lights on; second, a car with only its taxi light on; and finally, a car with both headlights and rear lights illuminated from a mixed group. Meanwhile, the West Incursion Zone's taxi is near the Empire Avenue Station entrance, requiring the 'Shift' ability. Its puzzles revolve around streetlights: choose the taxi with a blinking streetlight, then one without, and lastly, a taxi with a streetlight blinking at an anomalous interval.

The Evacuation Zone hosts its taxi in an alley northeast of the 'Unauthorized mines?' label on the map. This puzzle focuses on distinguishing taxis by their light patterns: first, the taxi whose light blinks at a different rhythm; second, one whose lights blink twice; and finally, the taxi whose lights remain off. Downtown's taxi, accessible with the 'Reach' ability from the Subway Fault, is found by heading to Lookout Point and then north. Its challenge involves recognizing taxis whose taxi lights behave unusually: one that is simply on, another that stays on when you are close, and one that illuminates when you approach a different vehicle.

In The Park, the taxi is located one floor below the ice cream truck in the same parking garage as the vendor. You'll need to drop through a mold-filled hole to find it. This unique puzzle tasks players with repairing a broken taxi using appropriate parts. Specifically, you must attach tires and a yellow car hood, ensuring to avoid the police siren and white car trunk, and remove any mold obstructions. Lastly, the Underpass taxi is across a chasm, requiring progress in the 'Recursions and Iterations' quest to access. It's on an elevated platform in the northeast corner of a mold-infested area. The puzzle here involves observing how taxi lights interact with streetlights: first, select the taxi whose lights stay on when streetlights turn off; then, one whose lights turn off; and finally, the taxi with no lights on when streetlights are active. The Unknown zone's taxi, located on the island with the Evac Building, presents a consistent puzzle: all three stages require finding the taxi whose shadow precisely matches a taxi cab shape.

Upon successfully locating all taxis and deciphering each puzzle, 'The Last Taxi' quest concludes. While the immediate reward is the completion of the quest itself, this endeavor contributes significantly to earning the 'Threshold Researcher' achievement, fulfilling one of its three prerequisites alongside 'Crossing the Threshold' and 'Unsupervised Science' side quests. Mastering these challenges not only brings you closer to 100% completion but also immerses you deeper into the enigmatic narrative of 'Control Resonant,' revealing more about its mysterious world and characters.
