Camila Mendes is preparing to return to her starring role and take on production duties for "Upgraded 2," the forthcoming continuation of the romantic comedy series.

The eagerly awaited sequel to the 2024 film, which saw Mendes in a prominent role, is scheduled to commence filming in Italy this month. Becca Gleason will direct the feature, building on the success of the initial installment. The screenplay for "Upgraded 2" is penned by Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews, who also crafted the script for the original. The movie is set for global distribution via Prime Video.

This production underscores Mendes' ongoing professional relationship with Amazon MGM Studios, following her involvement in films such as "Música" and "Masters of the Universe." Through Honor Role, the production company she co-founded with Rachel Matthews, Mendes is actively engaged in fostering character-focused storytelling, exemplifying a commitment to impactful narratives. Honor Role's recent productions include "Idiotka," in which Mendes also featured. Gulfstream Pictures, which funded the initial film, is also producing the sequel, in collaboration with Honor Role.

The return of Camila Mendes to "Upgraded 2" in a dual capacity as lead actress and producer highlights her evolving influence in the entertainment industry. Her dedication to developing compelling stories, particularly through her production venture Honor Role, signals a promising future for projects that prioritize depth and character. This strategic move ensures the continuation of popular franchises while empowering creative talent to shape their artistic visions.
