The Assassin's Creed franchise, a beloved staple in the gaming world, is poised for continued expansion as it approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027. With a rich history spanning numerous main titles and spin-offs, Ubisoft is committed to delivering fresh experiences while also revisiting classic adventures. The recent success of 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' underscores the enduring appeal of the series and hints at a future filled with diverse projects, from new game entries to theatrical productions and television adaptations. This comprehensive look at the franchise's upcoming slate reveals an exciting period for both long-time fans and newcomers.

The Future of the Assassin's Creed Universe Unveiled

Ubisoft is diligently crafting several new installments and adaptations for the Assassin's Creed series, extending its reach beyond traditional gaming platforms. Among the highly anticipated titles is 'Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe,' first announced in 2022. While specific details remain scarce, insights from franchise content head Jean Guesdon suggest a unique, darker, and narrative-focused experience set during a pivotal historical period, potentially exploring 16th-century witch hunts in Europe. Despite rumored team reshuffles, the project promises an evolution in storytelling for the series.

For mobile gamers, 'Assassin's Creed Jade' stands out as a console-quality experience designed for Android and iOS. Also revealed in 2022, this title transports players to Qin Dynasty China in 215 BC, offering the first fully customizable assassin character. Players can expect the signature parkour and combat elements against the backdrop of ancient Chinese cities and the Great Wall. Although closed betas have occurred, a full release date is yet to be announced.

Multiplayer enthusiasts can look forward to 'Assassin's Creed Invictus,' a dedicated PvP experience developed by veterans of 'For Honor' at Ubisoft Montreal. While no gameplay has been revealed, Guesdon has clarified that rumors of a 'Fall Guys' or 'Fortnite'-style game are unfounded, leaving the exact nature of this multiplayer offering a mystery. This marks a return to the multiplayer aspect that was previously explored in titles like 'Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood' and 'Assassin's Creed Unity.'

Beyond new titles, the success of 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' has fueled speculation about more remakes. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot hinted at the possibility of revisiting and modernizing other classic games, emphasizing the rich worlds present in older titles. While no further remakes have been officially confirmed, the precedent set by 'Black Flag Resynced' suggests that more modernized classics could be on the horizon.

The franchise is also expanding into live entertainment with 'Heredis,' a stage production premiering in Montreal in December 2026 before moving to Paris in 2027. Described as an original live show blending acrobatics, parkour, theater, and history, 'Heredis' will follow Naël's quest to find his missing father, offering an immersive experience for all audiences, regardless of their familiarity with the game's lore.

Finally, a new Assassin's Creed TV series is in development with Netflix, following a previous film adaptation. With a live-action series greenlit in July 2025 and filming commencing in spring 2026, the show will present an original story set in Ancient Rome, featuring a notable cast including Toby Wallace, Lola Petticrew, and Noomi Rapace. This adaptation aims to bring the rich narratives of the Assassin's Creed universe to a global television audience.

The ongoing commitment to the Assassin's Creed franchise, demonstrated through a diverse array of upcoming games, remakes, and media adaptations, reflects Ubisoft's vision for its iconic series. This multifaceted approach ensures that the Animus continues to offer exciting journeys into history, captivating both veteran players and new audiences alike. It’s a testament to the enduring power of historical fiction intertwined with compelling gameplay and storytelling.
