Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson Team Up for Christmas Heist Comedy
Prime Video is set to deliver a festive treat this December, bringing together action icons Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson in a new holiday film, 'The Man with the Bag.' This unexpected collaboration follows Ritchson's recent success with his hit series 'Reacher,' which secured a sixth-season renewal shortly after its fourth-season finale. The streaming giant is banking on the comedic chemistry of these two stars, promising a family-friendly heist adventure just in time for the holidays.
Schwarzenegger and Ritchson Unite for Holiday Heist in 'The Man with the Bag'
In a surprising turn of events for holiday movie enthusiasts, Prime Video has unveiled the first look at 'The Man with the Bag,' a festive film featuring a dynamic duo: Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus and Alan Ritchson as Vance, a cunning thief. The narrative centers around Santa's desperate mission to retrieve his stolen magic bag, pilfered by a mischievous elf portrayed by Awkwafina. To accomplish this, Santa enlists Vance, a character plucked directly from his infamous 'naughty list,' who assembles a crew of eccentric criminal misfits. Adding to the holiday magic, Santa receives unexpected assistance from his loyal reindeer.
This marks Schwarzenegger's return to the Christmas comedy genre, a full three decades after his memorable role in the 1996 film 'Jingle All the Way.' Ritchson, fresh off demonstrating his comedic flair opposite Kevin James in the 2025 release 'Playdate,' showcases another facet of his acting range. Helmed by Adam Shankman, known for family-friendly films such as 'The Pacifier' and 'Disenchanted,' and penned by Allan Rice, 'The Man with the Bag' is rated PG, making it suitable for all ages. This lighthearted holiday caper stands in stark contrast to Ritchson's more mature 'Reacher' series, which its creator, Lee Child, has explicitly stated is not for family viewing. The film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on December 2nd, offering audiences a delightful blend of action, comedy, and holiday spirit.
The upcoming collaboration between Schwarzenegger and Ritchson in 'The Man with the Bag' highlights the evolving landscape of entertainment, where unexpected pairings can yield refreshing and engaging content. It serves as a reminder that even seasoned action stars can embrace their comedic side, offering versatile performances that appeal to a broader audience. For viewers, it's an opportunity to enjoy a lighthearted holiday narrative that diverges from typical action fare, providing a welcome escape into a world of festive fun and unexpected heroism. This film underscores the appeal of intergenerational talent coming together to create something new and memorable, particularly within the beloved Christmas movie genre.
